What we do

Our tax advisory services cover the following key areas.

Get the tax position right before you act.

Tax opinions & advice

Personalised, carefully considered opinions on specific matters or transactions — sale of assets, sale of business, mergers and more — after multiple readings of applicable sections, rules, circulars, notifications and court judgments.

Income & tax computation

Income and tax computed from all sources under present rules, optimising tax and interest wherever possible. Choose between the old regime (lower slabs, multiple exemptions and deductions) and the new regime (higher slabs, vastly reduced exemptions) on the real tax impact.

Returns that are correct, complete and on time.

Return preparation & filing

The appropriate return selected and every relevant field and schedule filled. Filing on time avoids interest and ensures losses can be carried forward. Read more at Income Tax Returns.

Revision of returns

Returns revised within the permissible time limit to avoid later penalties and to take advantages under the income tax laws that may have been missed earlier.

Defective-return notices

Timely responses to notices for defective returns, ensuring compliance with income tax rules so that penalties are avoided.

When the department writes back, we respond.

Rectification of returns

Rectification of returns filed — by the taxpayer or in response to a notice or order — to avoid unintended tax consequences and further appeals.

Pending refunds

Pursuing income tax refunds that are delayed for various reasons, until they reach your account.

Assessments & appeals

Responding to notices, filing appeals and cross-appeals, and managing rejoinders and objections in income tax assessments. Read more at Income Tax Assessments and Appeals.

Cross-border income, treaty and FEMA questions.

International taxation

Determining the taxability of transactions, certification of remittances, and interpreting domestic tax law in the context of Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAAs).

FEMA compliance

Compliance with the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for capital account transactions — including reporting and valuation. Read more at FEMA Consultancy and Compliance.

How we work

Watch your tax file come together

Seven stages, from the first conversation to year-round planning.

Step 1 of 7

Understand your position

A first consultation — online or in person — to understand your income sources, transactions, residency status and what you want to achieve. We confirm scope and list the documents we need.

OutcomeA clear scope and document checklist
Step 2 of 7

Gather & verify records

We collect and reconcile Form 26AS / AIS, TDS certificates, bank, investment and transaction records so that the numbers we work with are complete and correct.

OutcomeA verified, reconciled data set
Step 3 of 7

Compute income & tax

Income and tax are computed from all sources under the rules in force, with the old and new regimes compared side by side so that you choose on actual tax impact.

OutcomeTax computed, regimes compared
Step 4 of 7

Advise & optimise

Where a transaction or position needs it, a written opinion researched against sections, rules, circulars, notifications and court judgments — with legitimate tax-saving options laid out plainly.

OutcomeA clear tax position, in writing where needed
Step 5 of 7

Prepare & file the return

The right return form is chosen, every schedule completed and reviewed with you, and the return filed on time — protecting loss carry-forward and avoiding interest.

OutcomeA correct return, filed on time
Step 6 of 7

Follow up & correct

We track processing, revise or rectify where needed, respond to defective-return and other notices, and pursue any refunds that are held up.

OutcomeClean records and refunds moving
Step 7 of 7

Defend & plan ahead

If a return is taken up for assessment, we respond, appear and appeal on your behalf — and plan the next year so tax is managed all year round, not in a last-minute rush.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Everything you need to know

Why should I consult an income tax advisor before filing my income tax return?

An income tax return is not simply a matter of entering income and TDS figures. A tax consultant can review and identify potential tax liabilities, reporting requirements and possible tax-planning opportunities before the return is filed.

Can Entrecap’s income tax consultancy services help me reduce my tax liability legally?

Yes. Legitimate tax planning involves structuring transactions and making use of deductions, exemptions, tax regimes, all other measures permitted by law. Entrecap’s income tax team aims to minimise tax legally while ensuring that the taxpayer makes complete and accurate disclosures and complies with applicable tax provisions.

Do I need an income tax consultant if I am a salaried employee?

Not always, but professional tax advice can be useful where your tax affairs are more complex—for example, if you have capital gains, rental income, substantial investments, foreign income or assets, multiple sources of income, director positions or tax notices. A tax consultant can also help with tax planning and return selection where the circumstances warrant it.

Can Entrecap help me revise or rectify a return I've already filed?

Yes. If you spotted a missed deduction or an error, we can file a revised return within the permissible time limit; if there's a mistake in processing or an order, we handle rectification. Both routes help you claim benefits you missed and avoid unintended tax consequences, without heading into a full appeal. You can check our income tax returns page here.

Does Entrecap handle income tax assessments and appeals?

Yes. Our team manages assessments and appeals end to end — responding to notices, filing appeals and cross-appeals, and handling rejoinders and objections. If your return has been picked up for scrutiny or you disagree with an order, we represent your position and build the supporting case, so you're not facing the department alone. You can check our specific page here. You can check our public google services written by actual clients.

Can you give a written tax opinion on a specific transaction, like selling a property or drafting an agreement for international tax purposes?

Yes. Written tax opinions are a core part of our advisory service. For transactions such as foreign remittances, sale of an asset, we give personalised, well-researched opinions — grounded in the relevant sections, rules, circulars, notifications and court judgments — so you can act with clarity and confidence. Our opinions strive to consider the FEMA and corporate law aspects along with the income tax question.

Is Entrecap an income tax consultant in Borivali?

Yes. Entrecap Business Services serves taxpayers and businesses in Borivali and the wider Mumbai region for income tax consultancy, tax planning, return-related matters, capital gains, international taxation, notices, assessments and appeals.

Do you offer income tax consultancy in Mumbai and pan India?

Entrecap Business Services is based in Kandivali West, Mumbai. We provide tax advisory and income tax consultancy across Kandivali, Borivali and all suburbs in Mumbai and Pune and across India with our associates in six states. Entrecap has clients for Income tax consultancy in Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh etc. Whether you're a salaried professional in Borivali, a business owner in Pune, or an NRI with Indian income, we offer personalised, considered advice tailored to your situation.

Do I need to visit your office for tax consultancy, or can it be done online?

Both work. Our income tax consultancy is fully available online — you can share documents and get advice remotely from anywhere in Mumbai, Pune or beyond. If you'd rather sit down in person, our Kandivali West, Mumbai office is open for a scheduled detailed discussion of your tax matters.

Is the sale of tenancy rights in a Mumbai pagdi property, inherited from deceased parents, liable to capital gains tax?

Yes. Tenancy rights are treated as a capital asset, so selling them attracts capital gains tax. Since the rights were inherited, the previous holder's holding period is included — which usually makes it a long-term capital gain. Note that the cost of acquisition of tenancy rights is often taken as nil under the law, so most of the sale value can be taxable.

Is TDS applicable on the salary or remuneration of a company director?

Yes. If a director draws a salary, TDS is deducted like any other employee. If the payment isn't in the nature of salary — for example, sitting fees or professional/commission-based remuneration — it typically attracts TDS at 10%. The correct section depends on the nature of the payment, not just the person's designation.

How does Entrecap help NRIs and people with foreign income?

Our International Desk handles cross-border tax matters end to end — determining the taxability of your transactions, obtaining Tax Residency Certificates, certifying foreign remittances (Form 146/145 – corresponding to the old forms 15CB/ 15CA), and interpreting Indian tax law alongside the relevant DTAA. Whether you're an NRI, a freelancer with overseas clients, or a Mumbai professional earning abroad, we make sure you're taxed correctly, and never twice.

I work remotely from India for a UAE firm and get paid in dirhams. Should I pay tax in India?

Yes. Because you're physically in India performing the work and are a resident here, that income is earned in India and taxable in India — even though your employer is in the UAE and you're paid in dirhams. Residential status, not the currency or the employer's location, is what decides your tax liability.

What is a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC), and how do I get one?

A Tax Residency Certificate is an official document proving which country you're a tax resident of — it's what lets you claim benefits under a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and avoid being taxed twice on the same income. In India, residents apply to the Assessing Officer in Form 42 of Income tax Act, 2025 ( corresponding to Form 10FA under the old Income tax Act, 1961) and receive the TRC in Form 43 (old form 10FB). NRIs obtain theirs from their country of residence.

Can Entrecap help me claim credit in India for tax paid in another country?

Yes. Indian tax law provides mechanisms for claiming foreign tax credit where applicable. Entrecap’s income tax team helps in filling out all schedules, details, applicable tax rates and reliefs. We also help to file Form 44 (Old form 67) to claim income tax credit in India for foreign taxes paid.

Can NRIs in Mumbai consult Entrecap for international tax matters?

Yes. Entrecap Business Services provides income tax consultancy services to  NRIs and foreign nationals especially on deputation to India for projects or offices.
